What if I want to change or cancel a reservation I have already made?

If you wish to change or cancel your reservation after it has been confirmed, please contact Ånedin Hostel support service at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We have different modification and cancellation policy depending on the type of reservation you choose. Non-refundable reservations: Please note, if cancelled, modified or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. Free-cancellation reservations: If cancelled or modified up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled or modified later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.

How and when do I pay?

Payment is made on our webpage by credit card online through a secured payment platform. We accept VISA and Master Card. You will need to pay the entire amount in advance to book a cabin at M/S Birger Jarll.

What about bed linen, wifi and breakfast?

Bed linens are included in the price. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas and included in the price. There is a breakfast buffet available for an additional fee of 95 SEK. We also have a kettle and a microwave to use with no cost. It is possible to borrow a hairdryer and to buy snacks and non-alcoholic beverages at the reception. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to contact our reception.

What is included in the cabin price?

That depends on the type of the cabin you intend to book. To get an overview of the cabins we offer please click “Search Cabins” and enter the dates. The lowest base price is non-refundable. All the cabins are furnished and cleaned prior to your arrival and after your departure. Bed linen and towels are provided. Free Wi-Fi in public areas included in the price. We offer a breakfast buffet for an additional fee of 95 SEK. 

Are there parking services near the M/S Birger Jarl?

Public parking is possible right outside the ship and reservation is not needed. This parking, however, is quite expensive if you stay overnight. (Parking fee: 30 SEK per hour.) There is a parking garage near the hostel that offers better rates. VIKING P-garage opposite to Viking Line terminal, 500 meters away, costs 120 SEK per 24 hours. There is also a outdoor parking lot at Londonviadukten where the price is 50 SEK per 24 hours. When you arrive we suggest that you drive to the hostel and drop off your bags. Then you also get driving instructions to the parking alternatives nearby. This map with the red dots also shows where they are situated.

Are pets allowed at M/S Birger Jarl

Pets are not allowed due to possible allergies of other guests.

Where can I read your Terms and Conditions?

Before completing the reservation of a cabin you will be asked to read through and agree to our Terms and Conditions. They are also available to view at any time by clicking “Terms”.

How do I reserve a cabin?

You can make a reservation directly through our webpage by paying the entire amount with a credit card. Once the reservation process is completed you will receive a confirmation email with a Booking Confirmation Number, the booking details and arrival instructions.

Is smoking permitted on board of M/S Birger Jarl?

We maintain a strict no smoking policy on board of M/S Birger Jarl in order to keep the cabins fresh smelling for you. We appreciate you respecting our policy.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is usually from 15:00. The reception is open 24hr a day, therefore late check-in is not a problem. Check-out is before 11:00.
